Preserve to Conserve

"While the dinosaurs probably died out because a giant meteor hit the planet, just one species is the cause of the current problems: humans."
Ian Johnston- Environment and Science Correspondent.

๏ปฟ๏ปฟDo you ever wonder, or consider what a world without animals would be like?.

Without them, there is no us.

When most people hear the word 'taxidermy', they immediately think of something horrific and gruesome. What most people don't know is that it is a labour of love, respect and honour. It requires dedication, education, patience and a lot of courage.ย
Preserving animals is something that has been around as early as the Ancient Egyptians. Royal pets were buried alongside their masters. Mummification, Embalming and preservation using spices, sands and other techniques are still used today by some traditional Taxidermists.

But why is it important?.
We recently were informed that 50% of all vertebrate species had disappeared in 40 years.
As of the year 2020, it is expected to rise to 66%.
Animals sadly are on their way out, by the hand of humans.ย

Taxidermy and related preservation methods are essential to keep the memory and image alive of animals that are now extinct, and will be extinct in our near future.ย

The reality is, our children may never see a lot of animals, and I endeavour to change that, if only a little.

๐Ÿฆ‹When you purchase a Moth, Butterfly or Insect, you are contributing to a now essential conservation program. Insect conservation allows Entomologists and researchers to not only learn about a species, but help to save specimens at risk of extinction. Conservation breeding allows the enhancement of genetic features, which enables them to adapt to different habitats. Due to land devastation and development, many animals are without homes and need a new plan to adapt.

By supporting Hey Succa & Skulls, you are supporting the breeders who love these little creatures so much, and work hard to keep them living in this world a little longer.
